A Day To Remember frontman Jeremy McKinnon has revealed how country music star Kacey Musgraves inspired the band's new anthem, "Degenerates."
Last week, A Day To Remember released "Degenerates," the band's first track through their new label, Fueled by Ramen. "Degenerates" is also the band's first track in three years besides their collaboration with Marshmello for "Rescue Me" earlier this summer.
Speaking to NME, McKinnon said the band had some unusual inspiration for the new song "Degenerates," including Musgraves.
"I'm playing around a lot on this record with this thing that I'm really inspired by from the country world," McKinnon said.
"Kacey Musgraves has got this song called 'Space Cowboy,'" he added. "I love how you've seen the title of the song, you think you know what she's talking about, then that chorus hits and it's a completely different subject and meaning than what you thought the song was going to be about."
