Frank Zappa fans can celebrate the 50th Anniversary of his first solo album, Hot Rats, with a mammoth 6-disc boxed set reissue.
The Hot Rats Sessions will release on December 20 via UMe and Zappa Records. The reissue will feature every composition recorded during the July 1969 studio sessions, including an "abundance of rare and unedited mixes, work mixes, relevant Vault nuggets and complete basic tracks mixed from the original multi-track master tapes," according to a release.
The first four discs include the studio sessions, showcasing the creative process behind Hot Rats tracks like "Peaches En Regalia," "It Must Be a Camel" and the Captain Beefheart-featuring "Willie the Pimp," plus non-LP songs like "Transition" and "Natasha."
The fifth and sixth discs will feature the 1987 digital remix of Hot Rats along with an assortment of extras such as vintage promotional audio ads for the album, the mono singles of "Peaches En Regalia" and "Little Umbrellas" and rare mixes of more than a dozen tracks.
