Katy Perry has announced that she will play a free concert, dubbed Fight On, in Bright in Victoria, Australia, on Wednesday, March 11, in support of firefighters, their families and affected communities of the deadly Australian bushfire.
Perry is due to arrive in Australia in the coming days for pre-game and post-match performances at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup final this weekend at the MCG.
"As a native Southern Californian, I know firsthand the devastation of wildfire across my home communities, and was particularly heartbroken by the Australian bushfires," Perry commented.
"Australia has always given me so much love and support so FIGHT ON is one way to return that love, and help provide a little bit of joy to a country that's given me so much joy," she added. "Thank you to my Australian community for always being one of my biggest champions. I hope I can return the support to you."
Tickets are free and will be given first to emergency services personnel, as well as residents from communities affected by the fires.
Victorian Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula commented, "We're thrilled that Katy is extending her trip to perform in regional Victoria. It will be incredibly exciting for communities which have had a really tough summer and recognise the outstanding efforts of our emergency services."
