Duran Duran have shared a video for their recent cover of David Bowie's "Five Years" on their YouTube page.

"Five Years" is the opening track from Bowie's classic 1972 album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars.

Duran Duran covered the song for the "A Bowie Celebration: Just for One Day" livestream concert on January 8, a tribute concert on what would have been Bowie's 74th birthday.

The futuristic video, which was directed by Gavin Elder, features the band accompanied by Bowie's longtime pianist Mike Garson. Elder shot the band members individually in London and L.A.

"David Bowie's apocalyptic vision in the song 'Five Years' was written almost half a century ago, yet it seems ever more poignant today," Duran Duran's keyboardist Nick Rhodes said in a statement. "Although it is five years since David left Planet Earth, his vast catalogue of songs remain as significant and inspirational as they always have been."

He added, "Mike Garson's heartfelt celebration show was a testament to the breadth of influence that David had on other musicians. It was also a display of the deep affection and gratitude for what he gave to us all."

2021 marks the 40th anniversary of Duran Duran, who released their debut single "Planet Earth" in February 1981.
