A biography of late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, with a foreword by Dave Grohl, will be released in the U.K. on September 7.
The book titled "Beast: John Bonham and the Rise of Led Zeppelin," written by C. M. Kushins, is being published by Hachette Books. The 384-page biography is priced at $14.99.
One of the greatest drummers in rock history, Bonham was found dead by his bandmates in September 1980 after being plagued by alcoholism, anxiety, and the after-effects of years of excess.
A great fan of Bonham, Grohl once described him as the "greatest rock drummer of all time."
"Bonham played directly from the heart," said the Foo Fighters frontman. "When he hit a groove, it was so deep it was like a heartbeat. He had this manic sense of cacophony, but he also had the ultimate feel."
"To this day, Bonham is posthumously described as one of the most important, well-known, and influential drummers in rock, topping best of lists describing him as an inimitable, all-time great," reads a synopsis of the biography.
"If the king of rock 'n' roll was Elvis Presley, then the king of rock drumming was certainly John Bonham," according to Adam Budofsky, managing editor of Modern Drummer.
