DaBaby participated in a virtual meeting with leading Black HIV advocates representing nine HIV organizations on August 25 after making homophobic comments.

The artist responded positively to the leaders' call for a meeting with him in an open letter sent last month.

The letter was prompted by DaBaby's controversial comments made at the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami.

Black AIDS Institute, Gilead Sciences COMPASS Initiative Coordinating Centers, GLAAD, National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC), The Normal Anomaly Initiative, Positive Women's Network-USA, Prevention Access Campaign (U=U), the Southern AIDS Coalition, and Transinclusive Group were represented in the meeting.

They discussed HIV history and education, as well as the groups' work in Black, LGBTQ and faith communities.

During the meeting, DaBaby apologized for the inaccurate and hurtful comments he made about people living with HIV. He also received the participants' personal stories and the truth about HIV and its impact on Black and LGBTQ communities with deep respect, the Black Community Leaders who attended the meeting said in a joint statement.
