Queen's Roger Taylor Shares 'The Clapping Song' From Upcoming Solo Album

Queen drummer Roger Taylor has released a cover of the 1965 classic "The Clapping Song," which is featured on his upcoming solo album Outsider.

"The Clapping Song" stands out as the only track not written by Taylor on Outsider, which is set for release on October 1.

A surprise upbeat note to an album of self-introspection and reflective observation, it allows Taylor to let loose on a track that obviously left a mark on his youthful years.

To lend his version of "The Clapping Song" a deliciously retro analogue feel, Taylor used a vintage Trixon Telstar drum kit.

Speaking about his cover of "The Clapping Song," Taylor said, "I love the track and I just wanted to do my own version of it. It's such a nice, cool song. I hope I get some of the fabulous atmosphere of the original."

Taylor and his band will christen the album in grand style with a 14-date U.K. tour beginning at Newcastle's O2 Academy on October 2. The tour will conclude at London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on October 22.
