"Merry Christmas," Elton John's collaboration with Ed Sheeran, has topped Billboard's Adult Contemporary airplay Chart dated January 1.
This marks John's record-extending 17th No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary Chart.
The Carpenters, who earned 15 No. 1s on the chart, Barry Manilow (13), Celine Dion, Lionel Richie (11 each), Whitney Houston and Olivia Newton-John (10 each) are the chart toppers behind John.
The British music legend has the longest span of leading the AC chart.
It is 48 years, seven months and three weeks since John's song ranked No. 1 on AC for the first time, through "Daniel".
