Paramore's Hayley Williams has announced a 20-part podcast series titled "Everything Is Emo," which examines the history of the genre of rock music and its evolution through the present day.
In the first episode of the new weekly show, titled "All Music Is Emotional," the Paramore lead singer and songwriter will share music from some her favorite bands, as well as stories from Paramore's early days. It is available to listen at BBC Sounds.
"Everything Is Emo is meant to feel like a conversation with other fans of the genre, young and (ahem) old. There's going to be plenty of interaction, which I hope will feel somewhat reminiscent of the message boards and forums I used to frequent as a teenage scene kid," Williams said in a statement.
"More than anything, I hope music fans and artists alike will be psyched to hear a highly considered spectrum of "EMO" in all its forms. And yeah, of course you'll hear some Paramore," she added.
Emo, abbreviation for emotional hardcore, is a rock music genre characterized by an emphasis on emotional expression, sometimes through confessional lyrics.
