Toby Keith recently revealed that he has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. The multi-platinum-selling country music star broke the news on social media on Sunday that he underwent surgery and received chemotherapy and radiation in the past six months.
"Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer," he said in a brief statement posted on Instagram and Twitter. "I've spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax,."
Keith said he is looking forward to spending this time with his family, but he hopes to see the fans "sooner than later." "I can't wait," he added.
A long-time advocate for families facing cancer diagnoses, Keith did not back out from performing despite his diagnosis with cancer or during treatment and recovery process.
After Keith's revelation, the Ohio State Fair announced that his music concert, scheduled for July 28 in Columbus, Ohio, has been canceled.
