Jennifer Hudson Earns EGOT Status With Tony Win For 'A Strange Loop'

Jennifer Hudson has joined the elite club of EGOT - multi-talented artists who have won Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards.

The Broadway musical hit "A Strange Loop," co-produced by Hudson, won the Tony Award for best musical.

At Sunday's awards ceremony, Hudson introduced a performance from the musical by saying, "This brilliant, funny masterpiece exposes the heart and soul of a young artist struggling with his desires, identity and instincts he both loves and hates."

She is the 17th artist and first black woman after Whoopi Goldberg to win all four of the United States' major entertainment awards.

The 4- year-old singer and actress won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2006 for the film Dreamgirls.

She won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album and best musical theatre album.

Hudson picked up a Daytime Emmy award in 2021 as an executive producer of the interactive animation fairytale story "Baba Yaga."
