Ed Sheeran Becomes First Artist To Hit 100 Million Followers On Spotify

Ed Sheeran has hit 100 million followers on Spotify, becoming the first artist to reach the milestone.

The English singer-songwriter shared the news in a video posted on Twitter.

In the video, Sheeran shows off a commemorative shirt that the streaming service sent him to mark the milestone, which reads, "ASK ME ABOUT MY 100 MILLION SPOTIFY FOLLOWERS."

The clip shows singer Maisie Peters replying, "Well done, Ed Sheeran!" Peters, Sheeran's current support act, then gives Sheeran a hug.

"Absolutely mental. What an achievement Ed. Congrats!" reads the caption of the 43 seconds-long video.

With 81.64 million followers, Ariana Grande is the second most-followed artist on Spotify.

Billie Eilish (66.18 million), Drake (65.40 million) and Justin Bieber (63.49 million) complete the top 5 on the streaming service.
