European stocks may open flat to slightly lower on Tuesday as investors react to a number of claims and counterclaims being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict and await the U.S. inflation report for August later in the day that might show some signs of softening.
The report is expected to show a continued slowdown in the annual rate of consumer price growth to 8.1 percent in August from 8.5 percent in July.
