Canadian hip-hop superstar The Weeknd has suggested that his next album will be his last under the moniker.

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, began releasing music under the name in 2011 with his debut mixtape, House Of Balloons.

In a new interview with W magazine, the "Blinding Lights" singer has suggested his next album could be his last released under the name.

"I'm going through a cathartic path right now," Tesfaye told W. "It's getting to a place and a time where I'm getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter. I'll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I'm definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn."

He added, "The album I'm working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd. This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I've said everything I can say."

The Weeknd has not announced or revealed any news about his next album. His most recent album was 2022's Dawn FM, which featured the singles "Take My Breath" and "Sacrifice."

The album also featured Tyler, The Creator, Lil Wayne, and pseudo-radio DJ Jim Carrey.
