Cicero, Illinois-based Ziyad Brothers Importing is recalling its 35.2 fluid ounce packages of Ziyad Brand Jameed Soup Starter citing the presence of undeclared milk, a known allergen, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.

The recall involves all product that is labeled as Ziyad Brand Jameed Soup Starter and sold in a 35.2 fluid ounce tetra pak container with UPC code 0 74265 00597 1.

The afftected product was distributed across the country in retail stores and through Amazon.

The recall was initiated after the firm, during a routine internal company review, found that the product was distributed in packaging that disclosed the presence of "lactic casein powder" in the ingredient list, but it did not further clarify that this ingredient is derived from "milk."

Serious or life-threatening allergic reaction can happen for those who consume these products, if they have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk.

However, the company has not received any reports of illnesses related to the recalled product to date.

Consumers are urged to return the recalled product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

In recent recalls citing undeclared allergens, Goshen, New York-based MilMar Food Group LLC last week called back 1200 units of Spring Valley Potato Blintzes for undeclared milk, while Fry Daddy's Brand recalled its Party Mix in all flavors and sizes for undeclared walnuts.

Last week, Mondelez Global LLC, owned by snacks major Mondelez International, Inc., also recalled two varieties of belVita Breakfast Sandwich products for undeclared peanut.
