Statues of Rolling Stones founding members Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have been unveiled in their hometown of Dartford in England.

The bronze statues of the schoolmates at Wentworth primary school, who formed the Rolling Stones in 1962, were commissioned by the Dartford borough council.

The rock stars are depicted in mid-performance posture - Jagger holding a microphone and Richards playing his Telecaster guitar.

The statues are titled "The Glimmer Twins," the pseudonym under which Jagger and Richards produced Stones albums.

The figures were created by sculptor and Rolling Stones fan Amy Goodman.

Richards' daughter Angela and granddaughter Ava were among those who attended the unveiling ceremony, held at One Bell Corner in Dartford, Kent, on Wednesday.

"In terms of culture and music, you do not get much more influential than the Rolling Stones," Dartford borough council leader Jeremy Kite said at the unveiling of the statues.

He continued, "Their music has changed the face of popular music and these lads from Dartford are now two of the most recognizable and loved people in the world."
