Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose has been accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit filed by a former Penthouse model.
Attorneys for Sheila Kennedy filed a complaint in a New York court Wednesday, alleging that the actress and model was "sexually assaulted" in a New York City hotel room in February 1989, and that she "did not consent and felt overpowered."
"Rose used his fame, status, and power as a celebrity and performer in the music industry to gain access to manipulate, control and violently assault Kennedy," according to the lawsuit.
The alleged incident has caused Kennedy to suffer "severe emotional, physical, financial and psychological distress," it says.
Axl Rose, whose real name is William Bruce Rose, has not yet publicly responded to the complaint.
Reports say Rose faces a jury trial under the N.Y. Adult Survivors Act.
