India's industrial production growth moderated in June, data from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation showed Monday.

Industrial production rose 1.5 percent year-over-year in June, after an upwardly revised 1.9 percent growth in May. The expected increase was 2.4 percent.

The overall growth in June was mainly driven by a 3.9 percent expansion in the manufacturing sector. Meanwhile, the growth was mainly curbed by an 8.7 percent decline in mining output. Electricity production was also 1.9 percent lower compared to last year.
