Japan Stock Market May Hand Back Tuesday's Gains

The Japanese stock market on Tuesday ended the three-day losing streak in which it had plunged almost 3,700 points or 7 percent. The Nikkei 225 now sits just above the 52,250-point plateau although it may see renewed selling pressure on Wednesday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets suggests renewed pressure thanks to a rebound by crude oil prices. The European markets were mixed and flat and the U.S. bourses were slightly lower and the Asian markets figure to split the difference.

The European Central Bank became the first major central bank to move in response to the rising inflationary pressures in the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East. In North America, the U.S. inflation and trade data as well as Canada’s central bank decision gained attention. The Chinese trade data was the main news in Asia.
