Singapore Shares May See Additional Support

The Singapore stock market has finished higher in three straight sessions, collecting almost 120 points or 2.4 percent along the way. The Straits Times Index now sits just above the 5,075-point plateau and it's likely to open to the upside again on Tuesday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is upbeat, even though they've already had the chance to respond the easing of tensions in the Middle East. The European markets were mixed and the U.S. bourses were up and the Asian markets are tipped to at least open to the upside.

The European Central Bank became the first major central bank to move in response to the rising inflationary pressures in the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East. In North America, the U.S. inflation and trade data as well as Canada’s central bank decision gained attention. The Chinese trade data was the main news in Asia.
