Obama Presidential Center Grand Opening Reveals Star-Studded Lineup

The Obama Presidential Center in Chicago will see its grand opening on Thursday (June 18), with a star-studded lineup named by the Obama Foundation set to perform or appear the event.

"We are bringing together some of today's most prominent voices and global icons for the Obama Presidential Center Grand Opening Ceremony. The festivities will livestream globally at 11 a.m. CT, Thursday, June 18 — don't miss it!" the Obama Foundation posted on X.

U2's Bono and the Edge, Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Common, Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Tems and The Roots are set to perform or appear at the grand opening ceremony that will livestream globally. The livestream will be available at obama.org.

Nonprofit arts-based youth development organization Guitars Over Guns, the Illinois Army National Guard and Uniting Voices Chicago are also set to appear at the event. Former President Barrack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama are scheduled to speak as well.

Following the announcement of the lineup in social media, Springsteen wrote, "Is this really happening," and posted a mind blown emoji.

The Roots responded, "Beyond honored. Can't wait to celebrate with you," while JHud added, "Wouldn't miss it for the world."

According to a press release, the grand opening marks the official dedication of the towering center on Chicago's South Side, with the livestream bringing together, "global leaders, artists, changemakers, and citizens for an inspiring celebration of the values that shaped the Obama presidency and continues to inspire people everywhere to believe in their power to create change."

The $850 million center, funded through private donations, is situated on 19.3-acre campus in the city's Jackson Park. It will be officially opened to the public on Friday (June 19), Juneteenth.
