UMC July Sales Rise

United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC,2303.TW) on Thursday reported higher July sales, compared to the prior year.

Sales rose 18.98 percent to 23.84 billion Taiwan dollars in July, from 20.04 billion Taiwan dollars a year earlier.

In terms of sales for the January-July period, revenue climbed 12.41 percent to 153.61 billion Taiwan dollars, from 136.66 billion Taiwan dollars a year ago.

In pre-market activity on the NYSE, shares of UMC were down 0.43 percent, changing hands at $19.20, after closing Wednesday's regular session 6.50 percent lower.
