Acumen Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ABOS), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, on Wednesday announced second quarter financial results and noted a lower net loss owing to reduced research and development (R&D) expenses.
The company is engaged in developing novel therapeutics targeting toxic soluble amyloid beta oligomers for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
Q2 Financial Results:
Net loss amounted to $32.72 million or $0.45 per share, significantly lower than the $40.95 million or $0.68 per share reported a year ago.
R&D expenditure was $27.81 million for the second quarter, marking a decrease from the $37.12 million recorded for the same quarter in the previous year.
Cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities totaled $110.2 million as on June 30, 2026.
Clinical Updates:
Sabirnetug is the company's lead drug candidate, and was previously granted a Fast Track designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The drug is being assessed in the Phase 2 ALTITUDE-AD trial for the treatment of early Alzheimer's. Topline data is anticipated in late 2026.
Acumen is also advancing bispecific antibodies engineered for enhanced brain delivery (EBD), and selected ACU301 and ACU401 as part of a licensing agreement with JCR Pharmaceuticals.
ABOS closed Thursday at $2.55, up 1.59%.
