Slate Medicines announced that the first participant has been dosed in its Phase 1 clinical trial evaluating SLTE-1009, a therapy designed to expand treatment options for patients with advanced solid tumors.
The milestone comes as Slate prepares to merge with Fulcrum Therapeutics (FULC), after which the combined company will trade under the ticker symbol SLTE.

The Phase 1 study is a single- and multiple-ascending dose study in healthy volunteers conducted in Australia, to evaluate the safety and pharmacokinetics of SLTE-1009. Topline data are expected in mid-2027.

SLTE-1009 is a monoclonal antibody candidate designed to block both pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating peptide (PACAP) and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), two neuropeptides with foundational roles in migraine pathophysiology. By targeting both pathways, the therapy may offer enhanced efficacy compared to PACAP-only approaches. It has been engineered with half-life extension to enable subcutaneous dosing and the potential for quarterly administration.

Chief Medical Officer Roger Cady noted that SLTE-1009's differentiated blockade of PACAP and VIP could position it as a best-in-class therapy for migraine prevention. CEO Gregory Oakes added that the trial represents a meaningful step toward advancing new preventative treatment options for millions of patients underserved by current standards of care.

The pending merger with Fulcrum Therapeutics is expected to strengthen Slate's pipeline and broaden its reach in next-generation therapies. Until the transaction closes, Fulcrum continues to trade under the ticker FULC.

FULC has traded between $2.83 and $15.74 over the past year. The stock closed Wednesday's trading at $3.86. In pre-market trading the stock is at $3.88, up 0.52%.
