Pyxis Oncology, Inc. (PYXS), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing therapies for difficult-to-treat cancers, recently announced that Interim Chief Executive Officer and Director Tom Civik will participate in fireside chats at three upcoming healthcare and investment conferences.
The company will participate in the Wells Fargo 21st Annual Healthcare Conference in Boston on September 10, 2026.
Pyxis will also participate in the 2026 Cantor Global Healthcare Conference in New York on September 11 followed by the H.C. Wainwright 28th Annual Global Investment Conference in New York on September 14.
Clinical Pipeline:
Pyxis' lead candidate, micvotabart pelidotin (MICVO), is a first-in-concept antibody-drug conjugate targeting extradomain-B of fibronectin (EDB+FN), a component of the tumor extracellular matrix that is selectively overexpressed in the tumor microenvironment of multiple solid tumors.
MICVO is being evaluated as a monotherapy in a Phase 1 study in patients with recurrent and metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (R/M HNSCC), as well as in combination with Merck's KEYTRUDA (pembrolizumab) in a Phase 1/2 study in R/M HNSCC and other solid tumors.
Pyxis expects to report updated data from the Phase 1 monotherapy study in 2L+ R/M HNSCC in Fall 2026, including analyses of patients treated at or below the 5.4 mg/kg dose cap.
The company also expects to report updated data from the Phase 1/2 MICVO and KEYTRUDA combination study in first-line R/M HNSCC in the fourth quarter of 2026.
MICVO has received Fast Track Designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for adult patients with R/M HNSCC whose disease has progressed following platinum-based chemotherapy and anti-PD-(L)1 therapy.
Financial Position:
For the second quarter of 2026, research and development expenses were $16.1 million, compared with $17.1 million a year earlier, while general and administrative expenses increased to $9.9 million from $5.4 million.
Net loss for the quarter was $25.3 million, or $0.40 per share, compared with a net loss of $18.4 million, or $0.30 per share, in the second quarter of 2025.
As of June 30, 2026, Pyxis had $34.5 million in cash and cash equivalents, including restricted cash, and short-term investments.
On July 2, 2026, the company completed a private placement that generated approximately $50 million in upfront gross proceeds and could provide up to an additional $64 million if accompanying warrants are exercised in full for cash.
Pyxis said the upfront proceeds from the financing, together with existing cash, are expected to extend its cash runway into the second quarter of 2027.
PYXS shares have traded between $1.03 and $5.55 over the last year.
Currently, PYXS is trading at $3.87, up 8.70%.
