The track was released as part of their third release “Weathered” and followed their mega-smash single “With Arms Wide Open.”The track reached the top of the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart on December 15, 2001, bumping "How You Remind Me" by Nickelback from the top spot. They held on at number one through February 9, 2002, when "Blurry" by Puddle of Mudd took over at number one. The song served as a meditation on loss after the September 11 attacks and also topped the Active Rock chart as well as hitting number 4 on the 200 chart. It earned Scott Stapp and company a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 2003.
