The Cranberries released their second studio effort “No Need To Argue” on October 3, 1994. The album includes their breakout smash hit single “Zombie,” which was written by frontwoman Dolores O’Riordan about the IRA bombings in 1993.

The album follows the band’s 1993 debut “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?,” and is their most successful effort, moving over 17 million copies worldwide. It has been certified seven-times platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA and has also gone five-times platinum in Canada and Europe.

“Zombie” held the top spot on the Billboard Modern Rock Songs chart for six weeks between October and December of 1994. When the track hit number one, it bumped R.E.M.’s hit “What’s The Frequency Kenneth?” from the top spot. It was succeeded by "About a Girl (live)" by Nirvana.
