Although the administration had hoped the House would move on the Senate bill before Obama’s planned departure for a trip to Indonesia and Australia March 18, the White House pushed the departure back for three days to ensure that Obama would be available in Washington to add any last minute support he could to convince wavering House Democrats to vote in favor of the measure.
