Blind Melon released their signature hit “No Rain” on June 8, 1993. The track had previously been released as part of a four-song EP in 1992 and was later repackaged as a CD/vinyl set.

“No Rain” peaked at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and shot to number one on both the Album Rock Tracks and Modern Rock Tracks charts. It also hit number eight in Australia and number one in Canada. Fueled in part by the track’s iconic “Bee Girl” video, the track helped the band’s self-titled album move more than one million copies.

“’No Rain’ was a phenomenon,” said Capitol Records VP of marketing in 1995. “At the end of the day, it borderlined on overexposure.”

VH1 later ranked the “No Rain” video number 83 on their list of the 100 greatest videos of all time. In an episode of “Behind The Music” front man Shannon Hoon later revealed he was on LSD during the video shoot.
