Chicago debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart with their release “Chicago VI” on July 28, 1973. The album was recorded at the famed Caribou Ranch studio in Nederland, Colorado, (also the namesake for Elton John’s “Caribou”) and includes the hit single “Just You ‘N’ Me.”“Chicago VI” hit number one twice during of the summer of 1973, the first time bumping “Living in the Material World” by George Harrison out of the number-one position. Chicago held on until August 17, when Jethro Tull took over for one week with “A Passion Play.” Chicago reclaimed the top spot the following week. “Just You ‘N’ Me” went on to hit number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and songwriter James Pankow said he penned the track after a fight with his girlfriend:"We had a disagreement, and rather than put my fist through the wall or get crazy or get nuclear, I went out to the piano, and this song just kind of poured out,” Pankow recalls on the band’s website.
