CRA Int'l Acquires Marakon Associates - Update

Wednesday, CRA International, Inc. (CRAI), a management, economic, and financial services consulting company, said it acquired all of the assets of Marakon Associates, a strategy consulting firm. The acquisition is expected to provide CRA with additional capabilities and a new value management practice.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The acquisition is anticipated to be slightly accretive for the remainder of the fiscal year and is expected to contribute to the growth in CRA's revenues and earnings in future years. Based in Boston, CRA has offices throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Marakon Associates helps clients understand the key drivers of profitability, growth and risk in their business and their linkage to improved performance. Service offerings encompass business strategy, leadership and organization development, customer value maximization, productivity enhancement, and growth. Mason Kissell, a veteran with Marakon Associates and who most recently served as its CEO, will lead the practice and be based in CRA's New York City office.

The company said that the acquisition will strengthen client offerings in key markets like financial services, banking and retail; and will enhance its presence in Europe.

Under the terms of the transaction, CRA will acquire intellectual property related to the practice, accounts receivables and all client projects currently underway. CRA intends to retain the services of about 50 Marakon Associates employee consultants, including 9 key individuals who will become CRA vice presidents.

CRAI is currently trading at $30.48, up $0.37 or 1.23%, on the Nasdaq.
