PriceSmart August Comp. Up 0.6% - Quick Facts

Tuesday, PriceSmart Inc. (PSMT) said its comparable warehouse sales for the five weeks ended August 30, 2009 increased 0.6% compared with the same five-week period last year. August net sales increased 3.5% to $102.5 million from $99 million a year earlier.

For the 52-week period ended August 30, 2009, comparable warehouse sales were up 8.7% compared with the comparable fifty-two week period a year ago. For the twelve months ended August 31, 2009, net sales rose 11.6% to $1.22 billion from $1.10 billion during the 2008 period.

Additionally, the company announced that the opening date for its fourth location in Trinidad, at San Fernando, has been moved from fall 2009 to spring 2010, because building construction has not proceeded as quickly as originally planned.
