Monday, Hitachi Ltd (HIT) unit Hitachi Global Storage Technologies announced the appointment of Michael Murray as chief financial officer.
Murray will be based at the company's headquarters in San Jose, California and will focus on positioning the company for sustained profitability and long-term growth. He was most recently senior vice president, Finance, and chief accounting officer at Yahoo! Inc.
Murray has more than 25 years of financial and operational expertise in both corporate and public accounting environments. Prior to joining Yahoo!, he served as vice president and corporate treasurer for Sun Microsystems, Inc. With Sun from 1989 to 2004, he held financial and accounting roles of increasing responsibility.
Murray began his career at Price Waterhouse, where he spent 12 years based in San Francisco and Dublin, Ireland.
