Kansas City Southern Q3 Profit Declines - Quick Facts

Kansas City Southern (KSU) posted third-quarter net income available to common shareholders of $25.8 million or $0.27 per share, compared to net income of $48.9 million or $0.52 per share in the third quarter of 2008. Operating income for the third quarter was $84.4 million, compared to $111.0 million in 2008.

Revenues for the quarter were $386.1 million, down from $491.5 million in the third quarter of 2008.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.24 per share on revenues of $392.90 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
