Brookfield Asset Management Inc. (BAM, BAM-A.TO) reported that its third-quarter net income was US$112 million or US$0.17 per share, compared to US$171 million or US$0.27 per share for the same period in 2008. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of US$0.14 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total revenues for the quarter declined to US$2.996 billion, from US$3.216 billion in the year ago quarter. Two analysts had consensus revenue estimate of US$2.97 billion for the quarter.
The Board of Directors declared a dividend of US$0.13 per Class A Common Share, payable on February 28, 2010 to shareholders of record as at the close of business on February 1, 2010. The Board also declared all of the regular monthly and quarterly dividends on its preferred shares.
