JoS. A. Bank Clothiers Inc. (JOSB) reported that its third-quarter net income increased 26% to $11.73 million, from $9.30 million in the year ago quarter. Earnings per share for the third quarter increased 26% to $0.63 per share, from $0.50 per share for the third quarter of fiscal year 2008.
Net sales for the third quarter increased 8.1% to $161.3 million from $149.3 million in the third quarter of fiscal year 2008, while comparable store sales increased 3.3% and Direct Marketing sales increased 21.2%.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.54 per share on revenues of $160.20 million for the quartre. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
