Rolls-Royce (RR.L) said that it has powered the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft first flight in Seattle, Washington, USA. The aircraft was powered by Trent 1000 engines. The first Trent 1000 engines will enter service with Boeing 787 Dreamliner launch customer All Nippon Airways.

In a separate press release, Rolls-Royce said that it has won its first order from US lessor Aviation Capital Group (ACG), for Trent 1000 engines to power all five Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft already purchased by ACG. The contract is worth $170 million at list prices.

The aircraft, ordered by ACG in 2007, represent a significant addition to its portfolio as the company's first next generation widebody purchase. The 787 will produce 20% less CO2, 40% less NOx and 50% less noise than current generation aircraft.
