Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has been slapped with a lawsuit by Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Peterson for changing the lyrics of his song, "Hard Sun." Vedder cut a version of the tune for the soundtrack to the 2007 Sean Penn film, Into the Wild, and reportedly changed it in a way that Peterson does not approve of.
The suit states that "Vedder altered certain key lyrics of 'Hard Sun' . . . eroding the integrity of the composition," according to Star Pulse.
Peterson has sued the singer and Universal Media Group, who allegedly licensed the track without his permission. He is seeking all of the profits that came from the recording for what he calls "acts of infringement," Blabbermouth reports.
"We don't see any basis for a copyright infringement claim," Vedder's lawyer, Gregory Clarick, told the New York Post.
Pearl Jam released their latest album, Backspacer, in September.
