Public sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. or BHEL, announced Wednesday it had secured a Rs.42-crore order from Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd., or KPCL, to set up an eco-friendly grid-interactive solar power plant of 3-MW capacity at Yapalaniddi village in Raichur district of North Karnataka, on a turnkey basis, in 8 months.
BHEL's work includes engineering, manufacturing, supplying, erecting and commissioning the equipment, besides operating and maintaining the plant for three years.
BHEL recently commissioned two Grid-Interactive Solar Power Plants of 100 KW each in Lakshadweep. With this, it commissioned 11 solar power plants in the Lakshadweep, adding over 1 MW of Solar Power to the power-generating capacity of these coral archipelago in the Arabian Sea off Kerala.
