Monday, Tyco Electronics Ltd. (TEL) appointed Charles Dougherty as President of its Communications & Industrial Solutions business unit. Dougherty succeeds Minoru Okamoto, who has announced his intention to retire. Okamoto will assist with the CIS leadership transition and serve as Senior Advisor to the chief executive officer.
Dougherty rejoins Tyco Electronics from Harris Corp., where he recently completed the integration of the Wireless Systems business sold by Tyco Electronics to Harris in May 2009. He joined Tyco Electronics in 2006 as President of the Wireless Systems business. Prior to that, he worked 25 years for Motorola as Vice President and General Manager of the Voice & Data Solutions Group for Motorola's Connected Home Solutions business.
Tyco Electronics Ltd. provides engineered electronic components, network solutions, specialty products, and undersea telecommunication systems.
