There are reports that an upcoming remake of the classic 1937 musical A Star Is Born will feature Robert Downey, Jr. and Beyoncé in the lead roles. Deadline Hollywood Daily claims that actor-turned-director Nick Cassavetes is in the early stages of negotiations for the project, which could see a release this year.
As of now, Downey, Jr. and Beyoncé are reportedly the favorites for the roles of Normal Maine and Esther Victoria Blodgett, aka Vicki Lester. Mad Men star John Hamm, Alicia Keys, and Rihanna are also speculated to be supporting stars.
A Star Is Born was first released in 1937 and has been remade twice before, once with Judy Garland and James Mason in 1957, and once with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson in 1976.
