FMC Q4 Profit Rises; Provides Q1, FY10 Earnings View - Quick Facts 2

FMC Corp. (FMC) reported fourth-quarter net income attributable to FMC stockholders of $62.1 million or $0.85 per share, compared to net income of $46.3 million or $0.63 per share in the same quarter last year.

Excluding items, the company reported earnings of $0.94 per share, down 8% from $1.02 per share in the prior year quarter.

Income from continuing operations were $69.3 million or $0.88 per share, compared to $56.7 million or $0.69 per share in the year ago quarter.

On average, seven analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.90 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenue for the quarter declined 2% to $722.1 million from $737.7 million in the comparable quarter last year. Analysts expected the company to report revenue of $715.47 million for the quarter.

Looking ahead to the first quarter, the company expects earnings before restructuring and other income and charges in the range of $1.20 - $1.35 per share. Analysts currently anticipate the company to earn $1.25 per share for the quarter.

For the full year 2010, the company expects earnings before restructuring and other income and charges in the range of $4.35 - $4.75 per share. Analysts currently anticipate the company to earn $4.57 per share for the full year.
