The Miss America pageant is leaving TLC. The Discovery-owned cable channel said on Monday that it will not renew its deal to broadcast the 89-year-old beauty competition.
"We are happy that TLC was part of the modernization and revitalization of the Miss America pageant," TLC said in a statement Monday. "This year we delivered record ratings, besting any of its prior performances on cable. However, our three year deal has concluded and we have chosen not to renew. We wish the Miss America Organization well."
Miss America was aired on NBC from 1966 to 1996, then moved to ABC until 2006. The show moved to CMT for two years before its stint with TLC.
