Sasha Baron Cohen Sketch Cut From Oscars

Sasha Baron Cohen's Oscars sketch has been cut from Sunday night's Oscar broadcast.

The Ali G and Borat comedian had planned a sketch in which he would appear onstage as a female Avatar character, with Ben Stiller translating what he was saying. The character would then reveal that it was pregnant with director James Cameron's baby and confront Cameron from the stage.

Oscar organizers decided that the sketch would be offensive to Cameron and asked Cohen to bow out of the performance.

Cohen's agent, Matt Labov, said of the cut, "I hate to use the term, because it's so ubiquitous, but there were 'creative differences."

However, Cameron has clarified that he did not request that Cohen's sketch be pulled. He told E! Online, "If they want to poke fun at Avatar on Sunday night, that's OK by me."
