MGMT's Ben Goldwasser To Appear In Indie Film

MGMT 102109

MGMT co-founder Ben Goldwasser is set to make his acting debut in a new film titled Wah Do Dem, which is headed straight to DVD on October 26. The film chronicles the journey of a broken-hearted skateboarder - played by singer-songwriter Sean Bones - while lost in Jamaica.

The new film also boasts appearances by Yeasayer's Ira Wolf and Norah Jones.

The Brooklyn-based duo is also making recent headlines for their love-it-or-hate-it new album, Congratulations. Though the offering has gained generally favorable reviews from such sources as Mojo and Spin, some detractors have blasted its lack of a clear single.

MGMT has, however, made a fan out of DJ Kaskade, who says the album's eccentricity is what makes it great.

"You know what I'm listening to? I'm listening to the new MGMT record [Congratulations]. It's awesome," Kaskade told MTV News. "Everyone's hating on it, but I'm like, 'It's awesome.' It's all tripped out. I love it."

He added, "There's no single, but that's what I like about it!"

Congratulations hit stores on April 13.
