James Franco's directorial debut, a documentary titled "Saturday Night," has landed a North American distributor in Oscilloscope Laboratories.
Oscilloscope Laboratories, which is run by Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, announced Wednesday that it had picked up North American rights to the documentary. It premiered at the 2010 SXSW Film Festival back in March.
"(Oscillsope head and Beastie Boy) Adam Yauch has been an inspiration since I was 16," Franco says.
The new director and the film's production company, Rabbit Bandini, are reportedly "extremely excited to be working with Oscilloscope, one of the coolest companies in the industry."
The documentary follows Franco for one week during the making of an episode of "Saturday Night Live." The "Milk" star appeared on the NBC sketch comedy show in December of 2009.
The new film will be released to theaters in early 2011, Oscilloscope says.
