Woman Earns Master's Degree In The Beatles

Canadian singer Mary-Lu Zahalan-Kennedy has earned the unusual distinction of becoming the first person ever to earn a Master's degree in the subject of The Beatles. The 53-year-old was the first to complete a full course of study on the famed group at U.K.'s Liverpool Hope University.

"I am so proud of my achievement. The course was challenging, enjoyable and it provided a great insight into the impact The Beatles had and still have to this day across all aspects of life," Zahalan-Kennedy told the telegraph.co.uk.

"The faculty and students at Liverpool Hope University were crucial in providing an unforgettable experience and their support was invaluable."

The Masters of Arts course in "The Beatles, Popular Music and Society" was launched at Liverpool Hope University in 2009 and 12 students were enrolled in the initial class.
