First Solar, Inc. (FSLR) posted fourth quarter net income of $156.0 million or $1.80 per share, compared to $141.6 million or $1.65 per share in the prior year quarter.
On average, 40 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $1.76 per share. Analysts' estimates typically excludes special items.
Fourth quarter 2010 net sales were $610 million, compared to $641.3 million in the same period a year-ago. Thirty-seven Wall Street analysts expected revenues of $647.80 million.
Looking forward, for the fiscal year 2011, earnings per share is estimated in the range of $9.25 to $9.75. Net sales are forecast in the range of $3.7 to $3.8 billion.
Street analysts expect earnings of $9.10 per share on revenues of $3.76 billion for the period.
