The value of retail electronic card transactions in New Zealand dropped a seasonally adjusted 7.9 percent on month in August, Statistics New Zealand said on Thursday - following the 1.2 percent increase in July.
On a yearly basis, retail card transactions dipped 0.8 percent after jumping 11.4 percent in the previous month.
By industry, the movements were:• consumables, up NZ$265 million (13 percent)• durables, up NZ$55 million (4.2 percent)• motor vehicles (excluding fuel), down NZ$5.6 million (2.9 percent)• apparel, down NZ$61 million (21 percent)• fuel, down NZ$107 million (19 percent)• hospitality, down NZ$192 million (18 percent).
