After reporting a sharp increase in U.S. construction spending in the previous month, the Commerce Department released a report on Friday showing construction spending rose by much less than expected in the month of February.
The Commerce Department said construction spending climbed 0.5 percent to an annual rate of $1.704 trillion in February after surging 1.6 percent to a revised rate of $1.696 trillion in January.
